Chester Zoo as featured on Channel 4 is a great place to visit during your stay and is just a short drive from Ashwood House. You can prebook tickets in advance up until 9.30am of the day you wish to visit by going to their website 

Chester Cathedral is a Church of England cathedral, the Cathedral is a Grade I listed building and part of a heritage site. The Cathedral dates from between 1093 and the early 16th century, although the site itself may have been used for Christian worship since Roman time. The Cathedral was extensively restored during the 19th century and a free-standing bell tower was added in the 20th century. The Cathedral is a major tourist attraction in Chester, the cathedral is used as a a venue for concerts and exhibitions. 

Chester Races, the racecourse, known as the Roodee, is officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the oldest racecourse still in operation. Horse racing at Chester dates back to the early sixteenth century, with 1539 cited as the year racing began. It is also thought to be the smallest racecourse of significance in England at 1 mile and 1 furlong long. 

Chester City Walls are the oldest, longest and most complete in Britain, some parts are almost 2000 years old. 

In nearby Delamere Forest you will find cycling and walking trails or you can just relax and have a picnic, or for the more energetic, young and old, you will find Go Ape Adventures with treetop challenges and segways.

If you fancy Walking with Alpacas or even a Pilate session whilst the Alpacas are grazing in the field, only a short drive from Ashtree House is Cheshire Alpacas

Chester lies on the border of North Wales where there are many places to visit including the seaside towns of  Rhyl, Prestatyn, Colwyn Bay, Tywyn along with many historical towns such as Conway where you can find  Conwy Castle  and the nearby Gwrych Castle,  where the itv programme, 'I'm a Celebrity Get me out of Here' has taken place in previous years.
